THE RECA SUMMER FILM CAMP

The RECA film camp is a vocational training program that takes place during the Summer Break. It is a yearly revolving camp organized by students under RECA Cinema Club. It is designed for all students between the ages of 14 - 18 years with an interest in Film and the beautiful madness of camping.

The aim of the camp is to give the students an open forum for them to learn more about film making from professional filmmakers through workshop training, have one-on-one interactions with each other, engage in group activities, make a short film with the best film, teams and individuals being awarded.

This year the camp will take place at Wildebeest Eco Camp to give the students a beautiful and serene setting during the workshop. 

The camp is set for the first week of August 11th - 15th 2015.

The theme of this year's camp is "THE MASTERY OF FILM MEETS THE BEAUTY OF NATURE" will be achieved through the inc-operation of daily visits to Nature engulfing areas such as the national park that will allow the student be one with nature as they learn how to visually capture it.

ABOUT WILDEBEEST ECO CAMP

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Ensuring every participant is safe is our first priority.

In  case of medical emergencies either of these hospitals will be our first point of contact. They are all located near Langata Road.

To ensure good communication during an emergency parents should submit two phone numbers on the parental consent form.

Mark Wambui has over five years experience in Film and TV production. In January 2015, Mark Wambui was voted for as Filmmaker of the year in the African Youth Awards. He is the founder Re-tuning Cinema in Africa and Chromatic Pictures Africa a fast growing production company that provides Film, Documentary and Events Coverage services to a client base such as the African Union, GlaxoSmithKline, UN Women, Oxfam etc. He teaches film directing and script writing at Africa Media Institute.

Felicia Wanjiku is among the few female cinematographer who are setting the bar high with four years and counting on her experience sheet. Felicia has tackled numerous amount of films and designed coverage for corporate events such as the African Union, Amiran and Takaaful Insurance.

Ronard Mugambi has over 3 years experience working as a production sound mixer in commercials for global brands, films and tv shows. In the TV commercial space he has worked as production sound mixer for Nairobi 2013 Standard Marathon, Bidco's Chipsy, PowerBoy, GoldenFry, Kimbo TVC's to mention a few. 

MEALS

What we can say is will stop at nothing when it comes to GOOD, WARM, SWEET FOOD. For us Food is Memories.

TRANSPORTATION

Transport will be available on the 11th of July in town at Kencom between 10am and 11:30am. Please stick to the time schedule to avoid the inconvenience of being left. 

REQUIREMENTS

You are required to bring personal items such as a change of clothes- enough warm clothes, mittens, beanies, sweatshirts with hoodies, pajamas, shorts, comfortable shoes- a pair of boots, towel, socks, leg warmers and toiletries.  You don't need to carry any snacks, food will be in abundance but in case it's a must feel free. 

It will be good to carry extra money for any emergency or needs that may come up. Plus a lot of merchandise will be sold during camp.

The Camp will only cost Ksh 25,000 (get a 20% Discount when you pay before 27th May 2016)
